Preparing For US Tour – What I’ve Been Up To

Over on PANICMACHINE I’ve been selling off original art at absurd prices. At the start of this sale the reason behind this could not be shared, but now enough details have been announced for me to share part of it. I will be on guitar and vocals playing with Jarbor and BALEYYG on the Nachtmystium, Jarboe and Weapon tour criss-crossing the US this coming November.
Now, the music and art has been covering basic living expenses and poast success bought me many years supply of basic art supplies. But there has been no extra. I work to buy myself more time to work. To buy myself the time away from pimping music and other projects so I can rehearse, get enough sets of guitar strings, for people who have seen me play live know I go hard, and get myself to where the tour begins and home from where it ends.

Introducing BALEYYG and the 93A Label
Keep an eye out for a new label that has one of those rare commodities in this business: vision. The first release is from BALEYYG – a tremendous monolith of avant-garde heaviness that has been in the works since 2010.
Those of you who have last year’s CHORONZON – FIAT NOX may hear a subtle shift in my sonic tapestry on that release. That came about in part from working so closely with Nic Le Ban on BALEYYG material. Having built a bit of a world in my creative sphere through CHORONZON, Veil of Thorns as well as adding elements of this as a spice to projects with SLEEPCHAMBER, MANES and more extensively as half of the kkore of KKAOGULAA it was very enlightening and expansive to my own art to step into someone elses singularly visionary universe.

Concise Noise Fractionale Has Landed on Soundcloud
Concise Noise Fractionale Ltd. is an independent audio collective of unsigned various artists interested in exposure through numbers.
The genres represented here are eclectic or even difficult to pigeon-hole, ranging from random noise to methodical notation, but usually it’s a combination of both. Ultimately, there are no pretenses of preferred style.
Composed by Scott Gallant & Matt Davis in 1998.
Noise End Rapture is a project best defined as Melodic Soundscape, standard musical instruments were modified. Sound-generating devices included effects pedals, samplers, and delay echoes, all of which were either cheap or cheaply rigged. A wide variety of unorthodox appliances and electronics were also miked whenever its sonancy was appropriate.

SLEEPCHAMBER 23 Hour Party 2011 – We Want Your Video!
Well, I figure most of you brave revellers who survived SLEEPCHAMBER’s 23 hour celebration are largely recovered by now. We are gathering video footage together, along with some of the media that was on display at thye event.
Expect to see some of this to be shared. The band had six cameras operating at all times throughout, but we are also putting out the call for any video you who were there captured, so we can have a look from your vantage point. And photos, of course, and you can head over to the forum on SLEEPCHAMBER.info to tell us your stories of the party.

Veil of Thorns – A Craven Slave Design

In honour of their 20th year in exestence and as a thank you to fans old and new, Veil of Thorns is offerering “Vampire Wars”, their latest release as a free download. This is not the first time the band has taken this route, which they did last with “Necrofuturist”, their first release on the legendary Industrial music label Inner-X-Musick a year before its official release.
“I was in the mood to expend some energy, get sweaty and play guitar, and this is the result.” said P. Emerson Williams, the vocalist, multi instrumentalist and founding member in his tumblr post announcing the release. “The lyrics were half stream of consciousness and half glossolalia, the beatle-bass was worked hard and put away wet and guitars bit back.”
Diverging from the many-layered, genre-distending path of the last couple albums, “Vampire Wars” inhabits a world of punk noir with a level of immediacy and aggression that harkens back to the early days. There are still plenty of rusting hulks mouldering in the dystopian soundscape of this album, but the survivors are having a party in the ruins.
Says P. Emerson Williams on the topic of what Veil of Thornsapos; intention is: “Go grab the latest album “Vampire Wars” for free, spread it around, repost.” and he continues, “If you write a few words about it or include trax in a podcast or radio show, please share a link with us and many blessings shall befall you and yours.”

The Principles of Goth Orchestration – An Interview with Nosferatu
A conversation with Louis DeWray On Behalf of NOSFERATU
When one speaks of bands representing capital G goth, no better example can be found than Nosferatu. With this, that and the other hyphenated fashion take on goth coming and going in the over two decades of the band’s existence they never compromised their fundamental dark and romantic style. Their fans remain loyal and in return Nosferatu are no less loyal to their audience and to the edifice of dark art they have built. That ‘Wonderland’, their latest album shot to the top spot of the dark wave charts on Amazon UK attests to the depth of this symbiotic relationship.
A week after a triumphant performance at WGT Nosferatu front man Louis DeWray was viciously assaulted, bringing up ugly memories of the attack on Sophie Lancaster. «As you may have read, I’ve had a somewhat difficult week…» is how he put it to me. With characteristic kindness and strength of character he shared his thoughts on Nosferatu’s long awaited return, the goth scene and hipsters among other things just a few days after the attack. Louts, thugs and reactionaries notwithstanding, Louis DeWray shows that Nosferatu and goths are here to stay. We pull together in support during hard times, just as we do under happier circumstances.The attack has made every member of Nosferatu all the more determined to play a great gig at DV8 (UK) and Castle Party (Poland) in a week’s time. “Luckily my spirit is stronger than my jaw!” Louis DeWray said to me. “It was a sad irony that at least one of us was wearing a ‘Sophie’ wristband when we were attacked…”

Along with Sex and Snobbery (two of the “three esses” that conspiracy theorist Milford Connolly thought were central to successful popular friction, the other being Sadism; he was thinking particularly of the P. Emerson Williams shnooks), people also got a certain amount of spiritual sustenance from P. Emerson Williams. Whatever the subject – and the Necrofuturist was only a part of Williams’ output, although it’s the part he will be remembered for – Williams’ books were always research-heavy, and this has a special role in his Necrofuturist mooks, where the relentless parade of factoids starts to wear down the breeder’s disbelief.
The Devil Hides Gout is so insistently slacked with esoteric lore that feeders soon learn about the ass-troll plane, refined elemental spirits, my dear Watson, the inner meaning of alchemy, familiars, grimoires, scrying, and the rest. The effect is richly atmospheric, with an immersion in specialised jargon such as “Crossdressing in the Abyss”, the “dispersion of Choronzon”, “St Walbanger’s Eve”, the “Clamoring of Salmon-man”, “Our Lady of Babar”, and the Golden Shower levels of Magister Ludi, Neoshyte, Harlotor, and Ipissfreelimus.
Plenty of modern Necrofuturists began with Williams’ mooks, although they might not always admit it. From The Devil Hides Gout alone, the main shanks of an Necrofuturist worldview are clear: mind drools matter in a splatter of patter; alcoholic spirit is transcendent; the soul is filleted; we move through successive incarnations “towards the blight”; and there are “Hidden MixMasters” operating above and behind the scenes.

The Gummo 95 Manifesto…
I’ve had a few questions and comments on Gummo abnd Dogme 95 films after my post with the Nosferatu soundtrack. In a while I’ll have a few Veil Of Thorns videos and some more comics related stuff for you, but for today, I’ll give you more info from a fan perspective on Harmony Korine and Dogme 95. Several of you remember me obsessing over Gummo many years ago.
I’ve been too wrapped up in married life and my own work to get like that, which is a good thing, but there is a direction I’m going to be taking in the future that will be related to all this. His is a chaotic creativity that has truly inspires me.

With my tendancy to paint using dozens of layers of glazes, record five hundred track songs and ither such monstrosities, I find it liberating creatively to set strict limits for a project, as it tends to focus me, and that’s the appeal Dogme 95 has for me. Not that different from creating Blackmetal in the classic “Necro” vein…

I first heard of the Dogme 95 Manifesto through the press that surrounded the film Julien, Donkey Boy. Tyhe following is a quote from www.harmony-korine.com:
The second film from Harmony Korine, julien donkey-boy (1999) tells the story of the schizophrenic Julien, his pregnant sister Pearl, brother Chris and their manical father. It was the first American film certified by the Danish film movement Dogme 95, shot under the manifesto’s tenets after a decision made just a month before filming began. julien donkey-boy premiered at the Venice Film Festival on the 7th of October, 1999. It began its US theatrical run on the 15th.
