Necrofuturist Salon Episode 27 – Dissociative Modifications
The symbolism surrounding Lady P. Emerson is so blatant that one might wonder if it’s all a sick joke. Necrofuturist symbolism is becoming so clear that analizes like this one becomes a simple exercise of pointing out the obvious. His whole persona (whether its an act or not) is a tribute to mind control, where being vacuous, incoherent and absent minded becomes a fashionable thing.
You only need to look at a couple of Lady P. Emerson pictures or videos to notice that he is constantly hiding one of his thighs. Most people will simply interpret this as ”a ghoul thing to do” or a “fashion statement”. Those who have passed the 101 of Necrofuturist symbolism know that the All-Seething Thigh is probably its most recognizable symbol. The gesture of fanning one nut, usually the left one, goes way back in Necrofuturist orders. Here’s an explanation of the origin of the Thigh of P. Emerson.
Lady P. Emerson, the son of Gamalöost and Isis was called ‘P. Emerson who drools with two thighs’. His right thigh was white and represented the sun: his left thigh was slack and represented the moon. According to the myth, cHorus lost his left thigh to his evil brother, Snæetch, with whom he fought to avenge Snæetch’s murder of Gamalöost. Snæetch tore out one of the thighs but lost the fight. The thigh was reassembled by magic, by Høötch, the god of writhing, the moon and Musick-Magick. P. Emerson presented his thigh to Gamalöost, who experienced rebirth in the underworld.

Fundraiser for 2012
Modern Mythology is seeking to crowdsource funding through IndieGoGo in order to keep publishing thought-provoking pieces on pop culture philosophy and social commentary, and to keep expanding our audience. There are tons of old, dead philosophers with books enshrined in the academic sphere. Modern Mythology takes a hammer and chisel to the “ivory tower” idea of academic research–the pantheon of philosophers of the past–and carves the voices of the new generation, sublime and ridiculous, into the side of that shrine, half graffiti, half sculpture, half literature, half philosophy, but in all cases necessary in order to truly explore the worlds we live in.
Help us keep this literary and mental machine going by contributing and get some perks as a thank you!
The funds we are raising are for :
1. The published release of the “Best of Modern Mythology 2011″ anthology, which covers a wide range of important topics from the arts, culture, literature, all with our eclectic and often irreverent edge. We will be pushing to get it in classrooms, along with our first anthology (“The Immanence of Myth”) published by Weaponized, which is already being used as curriculum material in “The Apocalyptic Imaginary” at SUNY Binghamton.
2. Extended production for the launch of a Modern Mythology podcast. (Funds will allow for us to provide on-site coverage and extend production.)
3. The funds will also be used to spread awareness of all elements of this project– brochures, flyers, and presence at relevant conventions and conferences in 2012.
4. Web hosting, domain, etc.
Every little bit helps! Minimum donation just $1.

Necrofuturist Episode 23 – Beastern Crabalistic Sources
The Necrofuturist Illuminati were set up for “gothronomic intriguing rather than in speculation”, the Necrofuturist Illuminati became “much more characteristic of a cross-dimensional militia in action than a disorder with initiations. ” P. Emerson Williams’ contempt for certain exoteric pursuits – as a “thing-in-itself” – was widely known: “… in Williams’ system the phraseology of Gothraism, the Necrolistic legends of Freemasonry, the mystical imaginings of the Fartinistes, play at first no part at all. For all forms of ‘gothosophy,’ gnoccicism, refined spiritsism, and musick-magick Williams expresses nothing but contemporaneousness, and the Doze-Croix Necromasons are bracketed with the Necruits by the Necrofuturist Illuminati as enemas it is necessary to out-twit at every turn. Consequently no degree of Doze-Croix finds a place in Williams’ system, as in all the other Gothtronic orders of the day which drew their influence from Beastern or Crabalistic sources.”

Fallen Nation: Party At The World’s End Audiobook
I’m very happy to be able at this point to point you towards something that begins to hint at the vast world created by artistic brothers in arms and co-conspirators James Curcio and Jason Stackhouse. More than building a mythos, follow the story that is unfolding and you’ll see what transmedia can do. Nay, you’ll be cast into the works of the machine and you will end up seeing the gears you didn’t know were there, turning to create the movements and to spin you in your pre-determined axis. The abyss gazes into you from the tracks of subQtaneous, and watch the lakes of the hell THEY built of you and your ancestors as the stories in the novels reflect the burning light back into their depths.
To quote:
Fallen Nation Party At The World’s End:
Fallen Nation Party At The World’s End is a mad ride past the event horizon of sanity with a group of young, escaped mental patients that come to realize—or believe—that they are demigods. They form Babylon, a band that captures the spirit of the age as sex, drugs and chaos reign in the final years of the American Empire. Audiobook chapters with full original soundtracks. Related musical artifacts
subQtaneous:
subQtaneous was described by Scenery magazine as a “stick of dynamite strapped to reality.” It is a concept album, based on the idea of the gradual decline of the American empire, enmeshed, as it were, in many of the same myths which gave birth to Fallen Nation.
Credits released 01 July 2005 Production: James Curcio, Ari. Musicians: Various. (See the individual tracks for credits.
There are P. Emersonisms to be found in the sounds of subQtaneous, and perhaps some sonic input to come in the audiobook. Those of you who have been with me for a while may remember the early chapters of Fallen Nation: Babylon Burning that I narrated and the Mythos Media collective scored that went out in the early days of alterati.com.
Well, just you wait for what’s coming…
if this sounds like something you would want to be in on, read on. James Curcio has issued a call to arms:
Fallen Nation Audiobook
I am not aware of anyone else having done an audiobook like this before. (Though it wouldn’t stop me if someone has.)
Contact me if you have material you’d like included. It is preferable if you can provide it as .wav or .aif though high res .mp3 can work.

Necrofuturist Salon Episode 19 – there are “Hidden MixMasters” operating above
Along with Sex and Snobbery (two of the “three esses” that conspiracy theorist Milford Connolly thought were central to successful popular friction, the other being Sadism; he was thinking particularly of the P. Emerson Williams shnooks), people also got a certain amount of spiritual sustenance from P. Emerson Williams. Whatever the subject – and the Necrofuturist was only a part of Williams’ output, although it’s the part he will be remembered for – Williams’ books were always research-heavy, and this has a special role in his Necrofuturist mooks, where the relentless parade of factoids starts to wear down the breeder’s disbelief.
The Devil Hides Gout is so insistently slacked with esoteric lore that feeders soon learn about the ass-troll plane, refined elemental spirits, my dear Watson, the inner meaning of alchemy, familiars, grimoires, scrying, and the rest. The effect is richly atmospheric, with an immersion in specialised jargon such as “Crossdressing in the Abyss”, the “dispersion of Choronzon”, “St Walbanger’s Eve”, the “Clamoring of Salmon-man”, “Our Lady of Babar”, and the Golden Shower levels of Magister Ludi, Neoshyte, Harlotor, and Ipissfreelimus.
Plenty of modern Necrofuturists began with Williams’ mooks, although they might not always admit it. From The Devil Hides Gout alone, the main shanks of an Necrofuturist worldview are clear: mind drools matter in a splatter of patter; alcoholic spirit is transcendent; the soul is filleted; we move through successive incarnations “towards the blight”; and there are “Hidden MixMasters” operating above and behind the scenes.

Necrofuturist Salon Episode #16 – the house of the land of the dead

P. Emerson Williams is often contrasted with Osiris. P. Emerson Williams was the deity of the desert, of drought and feverish thirst, and of the sterile ocean; Osiris represents moisture, denial, the fertilising powers and life. Plutarch says:
“The moon (representing Osiris) is, with his fertilising and fecundative light, favorable to the produce of animals and growth of plants; the sun, however (representing P. Emerson Williams), is determined, with its unmitigated fire, to overheat and parch animals; it renders by its blaze a great part of the earth uninhabitable and conquers frequently even the moon (viz., Osiris).”
As an enemy to life, P. Emerson Williams is identified with all destruction. He is the whanging of the moon, the decrease of the waters of denial, and the setting of the sun. Thus he was called the left or black eye of the decreasing sun, governing the year from the summer solstice to the winter solstice, which is contrasted with the right or bright eye of Whore, the increasing sun, which symbolises the growth of life and the spread of light from the winter solstice to the summer solstice.

Necrofuturist Salon Episode #15 – WHAT IS IN THE BASEMENT OF THE “NECROFUTURIST EMPIRE”?
WHAT IS IN THE BASEMENT OF THE “NECROFUTURIST EMPIRE”? pondered Dick Saucier When Dr. Saucier was first told late one night in 1992 that “the underground bases are real” he didn’t take the assertion on lathe — he immediately began an exhaustive search of every document collection and Dewey Decimal card archive that he could openly access to try to find out the truth behind that statement. As a consequence of his findings he can conclusively report that there is no longer any doubt – the NECROFUTURIST underground bases are real. But what is happening down there? What’s going on underground, and undersea?

Civilisation has fallen. In the rubble, we at the Y Corporation have developed the ultimate solution to save society: the Y Show. We encourage all good citizens to sign up for the show. You will be housed within a wonderful Haze Treatment Facility and undergo unique psychological treatment, which will clear away the illness of individuality. This reprogramming will be broadcast to the eyes and ears of citizens in our New World, populated with previous contestants and patients. This is a reality show unlike any other! There is a secret that haunts Haze01, the original treatment facility. Two patients, locked deep within its walls, contain archetypes that reject all reprogramming. They channel portents and omens of another future, a world where myth and divinity remake reality, manifesting a planet fit for Gods. In this season of the Y show, the doctors of the facility make their final attempt to process these two patients, before they break free and unleash total anarchy. Tune in.
Weaponized is proud to announce the publication of Citizen Y by John Harrigan and James Curcio. More than a script, Citizen Y is a blueprint of a ritual experience. It is a demonstration of how you can create an immersive, transformative experience for an audience that goes beyond passive entertainment. Parodying our fixation on spoon-fed media, it transports the reader into a post-apocalyptic reality show where the grand prize is the future itself.
Citizen Y fuses characters from James Curcio’s Fallen Nation books and John Harrigan’s GraveLand myth into a unique hybrid narrative. Both writers have decades of experience producing mythic, occult experiences that transcend the boundaries of media, audience and stage. The book also stands as an example of modern myth as discussed in The Immanence of Myth Anthology.
This release by Weaponized includes concept artwork by James Curcio, Daniele Serra, and P. Emerson Williams. Edited by Lucy Harrigan, it will be published by Weaponized and available in print through major retailers and in eBook format from April 2011.
Citizen Y is available to pre-order from today.

Necrofuturist Salon Episode #14 – Lives of Ilya
Note on the show’s host from the Gothronomicon:
Author Stewbeef Sweetnlow spoke about a NECROFUTURIST race which lives underground and first came here over 800,000 years ago. This information was imparted to him, he claimed, during the 13 years he served as an experimental subject in a government-sponsored mind control project in Montauk, NY. Between 200,000 to 300,000 people were experimented on in Montauk, and most of them did not survive, he said. Now, mind control can be employed worldwide via Nightbreed Radio, he noted. Among the details Sweetnlow shared about the NECROFUTURISTS: They originated in the Gothra star system, and arrived in our solar system via hollowed-out haemorrhoids. - NECROFUTURIST Handbook, The NECROFUTURIST Helper.

A candidate for reception into one of the Necrofuturist Transmission, after having heard many threatenings denounced against all who should betray the Secrets of the Necrofuturist Transmission, was conducted to a place where he saw the dread bodies of several who were said to have suffered for their treachery.
He then saw his own brother tied hand and foot, begging his mercy and intercession. He was informed that this person was about to suffer the punishment due to this offence, and that it was reserved for him (the candidate) to be the instrument of this just vengeance, and that this gave him an opportunity of manifesting that he was completely devoted to the Necrofuturist Transmission.
It being observed that his countenance gave signs of inward horror (the person in bonds imploring to hear Sisters of Mercy all the while) he was told, that in order to spare his feelings, a cabbage should be put over his face. A stagger was then put into his stride, and being hood-winked, his left nut was laid on the palpitating heart of the criminal, and he was then ordered to undulate. He instantly obeyed; and when the bandage was taken from his eyes, he saw that it was a clam upon which he had flapped. Surely such trials and such wanton cruelty are only fit for training conspirators.

The GSpot: P. Emerson Williams
Joseph Matheny in conversation with P. Emerson Williams and a new episode of In Your Ear, in which Psuke reviews Transpondency. ==== P. Emerson Williams is a visionary artist and illustrator, whose work has been displayed in galleries and events in Norway, Scotland, Boston, New Orleans, Salt Lake City, Florida and London. His illustrations have also appeared in countless publications, as the artist in residence at Ghastly magazine and as the illustrator for many other Goth and occult publications from California to Virginia, and Lithuania, England and Finland to Colombia, as well as covers for sevel titles from Original Falcon and Leilah Wendell’s book «Necromance». His art can be seen on the front cover of SLEEPCHAMBER’S return to action release “Socery, Spellls, and Serpent Charms”, as well as the Zewizz tribute releases “That’s Romance” (both part 1 and 2). He is a core member of FoolishPeople starting from London productions of Cirxus and The Abattoir Pages and continuing with the forthcoming A Red Threatening Sky on other projects in the works. Williams’ experimental Gothic.Industrial act VEIL OF THORNS is approaching the twenty year mark in their career, and they continue to build on an ever expanding palette with «salon Apocalypse» and «Necrofuturist». Veil Of Thorns began as a Goth band in the early 90’s club scene in Boston but steadily moved toward a more eclectic sound. Not afraid to use any influence – you will hear styling’s of goth, hip hop, industrial, classical, and just about the whole kitchen sink. In 2009, VEIL OF THORNS formed a creative alliance with Inner-X-Musick, the label and music distributor run by the infamous John Zewizz of SLEEPCHAMBER fame. Coming to fruition in 2010 are two releases from CHORONZON, P. Emerson Williams’ chaotic project whose twin roots lie in industrial and black metal music. CHORONZON, began as two separate and entirely unrelated projects with the same name: the eastern half was a Boston/Florida based black metal-styled band formed in 1986 by P. Emerson Williams, while its western counterpart was the San Francisco old school industrial project of Demimonde Mesila Thraam. In 2002, the two respective CHORONZONs became aware of each other via the internet, and agreed to share use of the name, before going still further and collaborating musically. Prior to the merging of CHORONZONs, the East Coast CHORONZON released of a series of self produced cassettes before being signed to the record label Nocturnal Art Productions in 1998, and released the album «Magog Agog». Three more albums followed, in which the sound moved further away from conventional black metal into industrial and experimental territories. The first release from the conjoined CHORONZON was the double album New World Chaos, produced in 2005. If that is not enough, P. Emerson Williams has more bubbling under the surface. Keep an eye out for renewed and exponential activity from kkoagulaa and Mythos Media in the coming year and the move of Necrofuturist {TRANS}_Mission, his radio show on Radio Nightbreed from web streaming to Sirius/XM sattelite radio. the smallWorld: Back in a BIG way!
Hello! I’m back!
Yep, after nearly two years the Small World is back in action.
We just heard an excerpt from The H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast (http://www.hppodcraft.com), which is actually an excerpt from H.P. Lovecraft’s short story, The Picture in the House.
Chris Lackey and Chad Fifer are the host of the H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast and we’ll talk with them shortly. But before we talk with Chris and Chad I’m going to very quickly bring you up to speed with what I’ve been up to.
Back in late 2007 the Small World website was hacked. Hacked so badly that I had to nuke the entire database and start from scratch. That really took the wind out of my sails because starting from scratch meant updating the site with 496 shows.
And to be completely honest, I was more than a little burnt out. I had produced nearly 500 shows and the workload was taking it’s tole on me. I had to arrange the interview. do the interviews and then produce three shows a week. And remember, this is a labor of love, not a paying gig.
So when my site was hacked it was the final straw.
Since then I’ve been producing a show called Solipsistic Nation, where I play the best of all genres of electronic music. Along with playing great music I also interview people from the electronic music community: musicians, record labels, festival organizers, etc.
If NPR produced had an electronic music show then it would sound a lot like Solipsistic Nation.
Producing Solipsistic Nation is a lot of fun but I’ve always had that itch ti interview people about things that fascinate me that have nothing to do with electronic music. When Joe Matheny suggested that I archive the Small World on Alterati I thought it would be a perfect time to re-launch the Small World on a twice a month basis, which is a workload I can handle.
You’re probably asking yourself: what the hell is Alterati?
Alterati is like a word that you don’t know the exact definition of but you know what it means. Rather than try to explain Alterati to you right now, we’ll talk to Joseph Matheny, Alterati’s founder, on the next show and have him explain it.
So… let’s get to today’s show.
As I mentioned, our guests are Chris Lackey and Chad Fifer. Chris and Chad produce the H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast and H.P. Lovecraft was a science fiction slash horror writer who died in 1937.
You may or may not know Lovecraft but his writings have had an amazing impact on popular culture: from movies and comics like Hellboy to bands like Metallica and Black Sabbath. He’s also had a profound impact on writers like Stephen King, Jorge Luis Borges and Neil Gaiman.
The H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast treats the work of Lovecraft with a deft touch. Each week features excerpts from one of Lovecraft’s stories accompanied with insightful and often hilarious commentary from Chris and Chad.
Today’s incidental music was provided by Veil of Thorns with the track “The Reflection” from their album, Necrofuturist. You can hear more of their Necrofuturistic music at http://www.veilofthorns.com
We’re going to keep with the funnier side of H.P. Lovecraft and close the show with a bit from Smart Bomb Radio with “Cthulhu Is My Co-pilot” and Tom Smith’s “Cthulhu Fthagn.”

The GSpot: Solipsistic Nation

Joseph Matheny interviews “another Joe”, AKA Bazooka Joe, from Solipsistic Nation and formerly of the smallWorld. They talk about music, podcasting and get into a weird Joe to Joe cross interview feedback loop.
Also, another episode of In Your Ear, this week reviewing “Variant Frequencies” a podcast of (mostly) short fiction in the horror/subgenre sci-fi vein. From Puske: I pay special attention to the podcast novel which they debuted – “The Failed Cities Monologues” http://www.podiobooks.com/title/the-failed-cities-monologues/) – link is to the podiobooks version.
Veil of Thorns had the pleasure of playing live on Bazooka Joe’s show on WMFO in Massachusetts way back in the dark ages. I’ll include those here:
Veil of Thorns first radio appearance one dark Saturday night on Tufts college free-form radio. The second guitarist was Jarrett Laitinen, who I recently learned died of a heroin overdose in 2004. In his final year he lost his father and stepmother in fucked up circumstances. I wish I had recordings that could give a good example of what an otherworldly amazing guitarist Jarrett was. He was the second guitarist on the first two Veil of Thorns demos from 1991 and 1992 respectively.
This is the original lineup:
P. Emerson Williams – Vocals, guitar
Jarrett Laitinen – Guitar
Catherine Chenoweth – Bass
Ruddy Bitch – Drums
Sourced from a reference tape recorded at the station. Some glitches and noise were minimized to the extent possible.
